A man today pleaded guilty to a home invasion and sexual attack on a 32-year-old woman in Onehunga last month. Police arrested Dean Te Otinga Martin, 38, a forklift operator from Onehunga, a week after his August 18 assault on the Asian woman in her Spring Street home. At the time, police said it appeared Martin had known the woman was home alone.
He was charged with thee counts of sexual violation, indecent assault, aggravated burglary, aggravated wounding, abduction, burglary and unlawfully taking a motor vehicle. Martin pleaded guilty in Auckland District Court earlier today and will reappear for sentencing on October 27.Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Beard said the early guilty plea was very welcome news to the investigating officers and the attack victim and reflected the professionalism and dedication of those who worked on the inquiry.
