Jordan Storm Pavlovich
From Southland Times story 31st May 2013
A 21-year-old Invercargill man today admitted sexually violating an eight-year-old girl at Oreti Beach earlier in the year. Jordan Storm Pavlovich, who until today had name suppression, appeared before Judge Kevin Phillips in the Invercargill District Court and admitted sexually violating the young girl on February 2. A charge of indecent assault on a child was withdrawn and Pavlovich was remanded in custody to August 29 for sentence. Pavlovich's lawyer Peter Redpath made no applications. Police prosecutor Sergeant Marcus McMahon said Pavlovich was at the beach with his partner and her children when he went searching in the sand hills for his partner's son.
While in the sand hills Pavlovich approached an eight-year-old girl and asked if she had seen the missing boy before grabbing her, putting his hand over her mouth and pushing her to the ground, Mr McMahon said. He then sexually violated her, he said. The young girl's mother arrived to find Pavlovich over top of her daughter, he said. The mother screamed and Pavlovich quickly left the area, went back to the main beach area with sand around his face and fresh blood on his cheek, and was approached by the girl's parents, he said. Police were called and Pavlovich was arrested on a separate matter. The following day he denied any involvement in the sexual violation matter, he said. On February 4 he completed a video interview and admitted being with the victim but could not remember what he had done, he said. The victim was receiving ongoing treatment for her injuries, Mr McMahon said.
