Michael Gordon Rae
From the Manawatu Standard 12th December 2008
A teenager pleaded guilty to the robbery of two service stations in the space of two days in Palmerston North District Court yesterday. Michael Gordon Rae, 19, was arrested after the night-time heist of the Ferguson St Shell, where a sole attendant was held up for cash and tobacco on November 17. Rae was allegedly in possession of a flick-style knife and ran towards Ada St, the police summary of facts read. But the charge of aggravated robbery was later withdrawn by police.
Rae also pleaded guilty to the robbery of the Caltex service station, on the corner of Main and Ruahine streets, the previous night. On that occasion, he claimed a weapon was concealed in his hooded sweatshirt and he left with a substantial amount of cash. Rae also pleaded guilty to breaching community work and supervision. He punched the air and smiled to friends at the back of the courtroom in a triumphant manner as he was led from the dock. The teen was remanded in custody until sentencing on March 15.
