Michael Harry Hamilton
From the Dominion Post 24th April 2015
A Stokes Valley man made films of the girl he was abusing then edited them into disturbing sexual fantasies. Michael Harry Hamilton, 62, was jailed for six years and nine months by Wellington District Court judge Peter Hobbs who said he made the girl pose naked or partially clothed or filmed her using hidden cameras during the abuse at his work place. The judge said Hamilton then catalogued his work, storing over 2600 of them into folders on a computer and modifying them to show "disturbing fantasies." Hamilton also had thousands more objectionable publications. He had pleaded guilty to five charges of sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection, doing indecent acts and possession of the objectionable publications.
Hamilton had taken the girl to work with him where he worked alone and in a secure compound. He made the girl dress up, often in a short skirt that was found in his office. The offending began when she was seven and continued until she was 11. She finally told a family member when she was 13. Two family members read out victim impact statements to Hamilton as he stood in the dock. One said he had sabotaged the girl's life with his despicable behaviour. He had been one person the family trusted to keep her safe and instead had destroyed her innocence. Another family member said he had never hated another human as much as he hated Hamilton. Judge Hobbs said there was a degree of force used on the victim if she resisted and there was long-term conditioning of her by Hamilton. Hamilton's lawyer Paul Paino said he had remorse and was willing to undergo treatment in prison.
