Raivaru was sentenced to 4 years imprisonment after pleading guilty to manslaughter.
A 15-year-old boy told his stepfather to "die die die" after stabbing him in the heart with a carving knife in Tokoroa. About 4am on the morning of the 27th there was an argument between Raivaru's step-father Mr Tau and mother, the fight escalated into an exchange of punches between the mother, Raivaru and the step-father, before the stepfather was eventually ushered outside and told to leave. Mr Tau continued to verbally abuse Raivaru and his mother. The 15-year-old became angry and got out of bed, grabbed a large carving knife from the kitchen and went outside to find his stepfather.
