In April 2007 the victim was staying with the respondent for a few days. One morning, when she refused to make his breakfast, the respondent attacked her. He struck her ten times over the body with a golf club. As she ran out of the house the respondent used a stick to strike her. He then punched her to the ground and kicked her down some stairs in the house. The victim suffered a gash on her left wrist, a sore left arm, a bruise on her right hand, and sore back, shoulders, legs and head.
(2015) There aren't many convicted killers who get to walk out the front door of the High Court minutes after being sentenced. Hariboy Hetaraka knew it, too, as he lit a cigarette on the steps of the Wellington courthouse, contemplating just how fortunate he was to have avoided a stint behind bars for killing Clark McCulloch with a single punch. "I'm going to go home and cry," Hetaraka said on Tuesday. "The last 15 months have been excruciating." Earlier this month, a jury found him guilty of manslaughter after McCulloch, 59, died from the head injuries he received in a scuffle between the two in July last year.
